Idle Control System
Clutch Switch Signal (M/T)
This signals the ECM when the clutch is engaged.
Inspection of clutch switch signal.
Check for an open in the circuit:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Measure voltage between ECM
connector terminals C4 and
A26.
Is voltage less than 1.0 V?
Check for short in the circuit:
1. Depress the clutch pedal.
2. Measure voltage between ECM
connector terminals C4 and
A26.
(To page 11-125)
ECM CONNECTORS
Check the clutch switch:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the 3P connector
from the clutch switch.
3. Check for continuity between
the clutch switch connector
terminals No. 1 and No. 3.
WIRE SIDE OF FEMALE TERMINALS
CLUTCH SWITCH 3P CONNECTOR
TERMINAL SIDE OF MALE TERMINALS
Is there continuity? — Adjust the clutch switch.— Replace the clutch switch.
CLUTCH SWITCH 3P CONNECTOR
WIRE SIDE OF FEMALE TERMINALS
Is there approx. 5 V?
Repair open in the wire between
the ECM (C4) and the clutch
switch.
Repair open in BLK wire between
the clutch switch and G401
(located behind left kick panel).
Check for an open in the wire:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Measure voltage between the
clutch switch connector termi-
nal No. 1 and body ground.

(From page 11-124)
Is there approx. 5 V?
ECM CONNECTORS
Check the clutch switch:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF:
2. Disconnect the 3P connector
from the clutch switch.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
4. Measure voltage between ECM
connector terminals C4 and
A26 with the clutch pedal
depressed.
Is there approx. 5 V?
WIRE SIDE OF FEMALE TERMINALS
Replace the clutch switch.
Repair short in the wire between
the ECM (C4) and the clutch
switch.
Clutch switch signal is OK.
Check for a short in the wire:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the ECM connec-
tor C (12P) from the ECM.
3. Check for continuity between
ECM connector terminal C4
and body ground.
Is there continuity?
Substitute a known-good ECM
and recheck. If prescribed voltage
is now available, replace the orig-
inal ECM.
